The local culture of Elmira, NY has always been dominated by the work of Mark Twain. It was the location of his family's summer home, the study where he wrote most of his well-known stories, and his final resting place. When the opportunity arose to stay at his family's home, our idea was born. We took inspiration from Mark Twain's history as the forefather of scrapbooking, access to the family's extensive library, and threw them in a blender with our love of independent comics. Searching through 56 books, we selected interesting passages from them and assembled them into a semi-cohesive narrative. We then added a graphic component to tie everything together. After a year of copying, pasting, rearranging, drawing, re-drawing, scanning and assembly, please accept our warmest - Welcome to Plainton.
